1001 McKinney was a building repositioning project incorporating exterior and interior renovations. The architects task was to update the building public areas while maintaining the historical qualities. This building is a registered historical landmark. Some of the more challenging aspects included: new front canopy, new clear glass entrance, new finishes in the tunnel system and building lobby, new conference center for tenant use, and new finishes at the level five garage entrance. Both Hines and Ken R Harry Associate (Abel Design Group) worked side by side with Harvey to capture the vision of the design team while working with unique existing conditions. Site coordination was key in marrying this older structure and the new finishes. The end result was a Landmark Finalist Award for Historical Renovation.
