Awty International School Student Center
The Awty International School Student Center dramatically reshapes the existing campus serving 1400 students in grades 2 – 12 in Houston, Texas.
Twelve-level office building, eight-level office building, and a seven-level parking garage
The project consists of a twelve-level office building, eight-level office building and a seven-level parking garage located in The Woodlands, Texas on the north shore of Lake Woodlands. The all-glass facades and convex shape of two sides of the buildings allow for a very open floor concept with unobstructed views of the lake and surrounding area. The buildings, part of an overall master-plan development, utilize their proximity to scenic Lake Woodlands with a nature trail, feature fountain and stream between the buildings that will flow through a beautifully landscaped grove as if spilling into the lake. Careful placement of the buildings along with selective clearing and reforestation will help to preserve the existing landscape. Additionally, both buildings are striving to achieve LEED® Gold.
The main lobby of the twelve-level building will have a two-story glass window system with a sloped ceiling consisting of drop-down 'clouds' and large slab stone floors. The walls will have back-painted glass, bamboo veneer wood slats, and split face stone. Level one will have a fitness center complete with an equipment room as well as a fitness classroom that looks out onto the water. The eight-level building will feature similar lobby finishes and have a restaurant and back patio near the lake for those who choose to dine at work and company events. The large 'Halo' canopy and fountain feature in the circle drive between the buildings not only provides a functional connection to the garage but aesthetically ties the three buildings together.
