John Amalfi

Partner

As a child, John was always fascinated by construction. It was his dream to be involved in building and creating. He learned the fundamentals of construction from his father and got his first summer job in construction when he was a young teenager. He has been committed to learning and growing in this industry ever since. John enjoys the tangible nature of construction; it truly draws him in. Every day, he can see the results of his work and the progress made as a team. Leaving the job site each day, he knows they’ve accomplished something meaningful. He thrives on the dynamic challenges that come with this business and relishes the daily opportunities to innovate and find solutions to the problems faced.

One of his favorite experiences was working on 1500 Post Oak, his first significant project as a standalone superintendent. It was a complex endeavor overflowing with unique challenges, but with the support of a fantastic team, they executed it successfully. Construction is fundamentally a relationship business, and he genuinely enjoys connecting with people and building strong personal bonds with the workforce.

Outside of work, John cherishes time spent with his family—his wife Alissa and their four kids—at their farm, where they raise cattle and horses. He also loves vegetable gardening, welding, metal fabricating, hunting, fishing, outdoor cooking, family camping trips, and traveling to America’s national parks.

What’s the best advice John can give someone?

“Hard work yields results. In every aspect of your life, have grit and give it all you have. Make a plan; use your resources, put your head down, and never quit. Be observant; absorb knowledge from those around you and strive to be an expert. Be a servant leader, always support your team and never ask someone to do something you aren’t willing to do yourself. Engage with the craftsman in the field; remember their names and connect with them on a personal level. Take time to ask them questions, listen to them, learn from their expertise, and make them feel valued. Always stay humble, show gratitude, be honest, and never forget where you came from.”
