At Harvey | Harvey-Cleary, we pride ourselves on an excellent record of safety and it is our NUMBER ONE priority on every project. We are industry leaders in keeping our safety program robust, relevant, and innovative.

Safety at Every Second

From the moment someone enters our site until they leave, we ensure that every precaution is taken to guarantee their safety. Our protocols cover everything from wearing the appropriate footwear to utilizing proper harnessing when working at elevated heights. We set the standard by leading by example and actively practicing construction site safety without exception.

Safety Training

At Harvey | Harvey-Cleary, safety training is the foundation of our program, and we reinforce it with constant communication. Our approach is simple yet incredibly effective. We ensure all our onsite direct labor and subcontractors submit proof of applicable, required training. Our program extends beyond the minimum requirements. It includes regular training and a strong partnership with OSHA to help educate, reinforce, and promote the safety culture throughout the project’s life cycle.

Safety Database

How do we know when specific training is needed? Our proprietary database of safety observations (near misses) rendered first aid and recordable incidents. This data allows us to stay up to date on what’s trending in the field.  By performing this regular analysis, we can take a proactive approach to our training and communication to address issues before they become problems. To be clear, Harvey-Cleary is not the safety police. We are builders; we are responsible for maintaining the safest work site possible.

Safety Records

The data backs up our claim; we have one of the best safety records in the construction industry. Our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Experience Modifier Rate (EMR) are usually half the industry average. Our clients get peace of mind and more competitive pricing as we pass along the savings we get in our insurance rates.

We encourage safety among our workers by offering different incentives, such as catered luncheons and financial awards. However, we also hold them responsible for their actions and have strict consequences for any safety violations. If offenders violate safety protocols, they must discuss their actions and the correct alternative during safety meetings. In severe cases, the offender may be removed from the site, and additional training may be conducted for the remaining crew members to ensure they have knowledge of proper safety procedures.

Our approach of combining incentives and accountability has helped us maintain a great safety record in the construction industry. This method motivates our workers to prioritize safety and ensures that our clients can trust us to complete their projects safely and efficiently.
