Akin Gump

Akin Gump Law Firm is a 4,963 SF, Class A office build-out on the 20th floor of the Colorado Tower. The challenges of this project was the high-end finish materials and logistics including the wood floor from the Netherlands, the Glass Office Front System was from Italy, and the stone for the reception desk was from France. All materials had a 10 to 14 week lead time and the job was only 13 weeks long so materials where bought and released a month prior to beginning work. This space is highly symmetrical. Reveals in the ceiling will travel through multiple materials, light fixtures, and glass walls to get from the ceiling to walls, to the floor. This required our team to coordinate months in advance with all trades in the field and shop drawings to make sure everything was perfect.

The architect designed an intricately detailed, contemporary wood ceiling to define the firm’s main lobby. Harvey worked directly with our local subcontractor to turn the design into a 3D drawing; we converted the ceiling into individual pieces, sized and labeled accordingly for the ceiling manufacturer. The manufacturer delivered the custom-sized, precut pieces to the site, where each was installed per the architect’s design, fitting together perfectly to form the finished ceiling.
