370,000 SF, hotel with 449 rooms and a 141-vehicle, below-grade parking garage
The cast-in-place concrete structure transforms what is traditionally a suburban stick and brick product into an urban hotel concept. With a total of 449 rooms—270 are located in the Courtyard Marriott section and 179 in the Residence Inn—it has more rooms than the typical hotels for both brands. The two hotels have separate entrances and lobbies off a shared motor court in the center of the structure. They also share a 141-vehicle, below-grade parking garage.
“The complex project was performed on our extremely tight downtown site at a time when market conditions were affecting both costs and manpower throughout the area and Harvey was challenged throughout the project to meet the demands of both.”Michael M. Sheppard, AIA Principal Morris Architects
